Frequently heard on BBC and independent radio, his TV
appearances include Funnyman, Blake's 7, Pebble Mill, Bushell
On The Box, GMTV, National BBC Children in Need and
Scandinavian C4's Performance.
Dave began his career in the obdurate working men's
clubs of the North East where he quickly established himself
on the clubland circuit, winning several awards, leading to a
role in Newcastle Breweries Centenary Spectacular where he was
spotted by London Entertainment giants Mecca Agency International
and subsequently began performing on their reputable UK nightclub
circuit.
Hotels soon became an integral part of a busy diary with venues
such as Grosvenor House and the Hilton in Park Lane, culminating
in three highly successful years headlining at the Sheraton Hotel,
Heathrow.
Cruising was next and Dave was soon a regular guest artist on celebrated
cruise lines such as Cunard, P&O and Chrystal. Indeed he was only one of
a handful of acts chosen to perform on the 5 star luxury yacht Sea
Goddess, sailing on the Italian and French Riviera. The summer of 2004
saw him performing on the world's newest and most prestigious liner
Queen Mary 2 when he was chosen as the headline act during the ship's
stay in Athens for the Olympic games.
Cabaret clubs such as Savva's and Lakeside were soon part of a hectic
schedule and after supporting comedian Jim Davidson at one such gig he
was offered the role of Dandini in Jim's lavish pantomime 'Cinderella' at
Bradford Alhambra. Since then Dave has repeated the role, albeit in a
'different way' in the record breaking adult version 'Sinderella' which
played to sell out crowds at all major theatres throughout the UK, including
two West End seasons. 2005 saw the sequel 'Sinderella Comes Again'
repeat the success of the original both in the theatres and on the best
selling DVD. Another national theatre tour was as 'The Comedian' in the hit
musical tribute show 'Dusty'.
More than 30 years on and Dave's unique, confessional style of comedy
is still in great demand in theatres, Hotels and on the Corporate Market
while he continues to top the ratings for numerous Cruise Companies.
'A perfectly formed show of music, poetry and brilliant stand up...Very Funny.' - Metro 2008
'A Funny man. Star in the making' - The Stage
'Brings the audience into his fraught and often vulnerable life. Invites
them to witness all the failings and frailties... oh and funny, very funny.'
- Mike Canney, Sunderland Echo |
